GRAB THE LION

“GRAB THE LION!” — the latest production by Tedi Moskov at the Vasil Drumev Drama and Puppet Theatre in Shumen

How do you grab a lion? And then—how do you free yourself from its embrace? Will that embrace be a dance, or a struggle? And who will have grabbed whom in it—you the lion, or the lion you?

In fact, “Grab the Lion” is the name of the charmingly mad hero of our delightfully crazy show. The hero has called himself that because he has imagined himself a knight and believes he needs a name that inspires awe.

We invite you on a theatrical walk through a medieval world invented by us, filled with absurd humor, brought to you by bumbling knights who have cobbled together armor from “recycled materials.”

The performance is about a special kind of foolishness—the foolishness of the clown, in which we seek salvation from unpleasant practicality, which has seized pleasant people with the sole aim of turning them into unpleasant ones.

The production is inspired by the film The Army of Brancaleone by the legendary director of Italian film comedy, Mario Monicelli. For bringing this film to the stage, Monicelli himself gave his consent to the director—and not only gladly, but also on camera for BNT.
