A mix of laughter, tension, nostalgia, and genuine human emotion awaits viewers in this dramatic-comedy story, bringing together some of the most prominent names in Bulgarian cinema. The film tells the story of former classmates reunited for their graduation anniversary, eager to relive their youth, but instead finding themselves facing unexpected conflicts, hidden truths, and old passions. The story unfolds in the present day, but the party dress code is straight out of the ’80s, and the spirit of the decade hovers over the film, elegantly brought to life by cinematographer Martin Balkanski. CLASS OF ’90 is director Boyko Boyanov’s debut; he wrote the screenplay together with his fellow student Stanislav Todorov-Rogi (Bubble Gum). The film presents a universal story in which viewers of all ages will recognize themselves — a blend of real and fictional events, delivered with warmth, humor, and masterful acting. Older audiences will be taken back in time to remember what they looked like, how they had fun, and what they felt during school parties. Younger viewers, meanwhile, will peek into the world of their parents, sense the spirit of those years, and discover the similarities and differences, which can be visual as well as emotional.
