Napoletano

Julian Vergov and Petar Antonov will be performing in Edinburgh for the first time with “Napoletano”, a hit production from the Bulgarian theatre scene.

“Napoletano” is a funny and emotional encounter between two men who, for different reasons, are forced to live on the streets. They once both had professions, good lives and families. After meeting by chance and growing close, they decide to help the one who still has a chance to be happy.

Vishnevsky is a former professor of statistics who is determined to end his life when he meets Tony, a homeless man—a tough and energetic character who knows all there is to know about the world of the homeless. Tony adores football. He also adores Naples. Together, the two wander through and survive in the vast city, which becomes their home—a place filled with danger and beauty.

This play is a story about the beauty of freedom, and the lack of meaning it has when there is no one to share it with. And when the leading roles are entrusted to Julian Vergov and Petar Antonov, it is a guarantee of an evening filled with emotion, laughter and tears.
