The director transforms one of Wallace’s controversial pieces of reportage (written for the Maine Lobster Festival) and a story from his collection Brief Interviews with Hideous Men into a theatrical monologue for the virtuoso Finzi, recipient of the 2011 Berlin Theatre Award together with Dimiter Gotscheff, Almut Zilcher, and Wolfram Koch.

The moral dilemma contained in the fact that lobsters are dropped alive into boiling water unfolds into a broader exploration of the issues of violence and cruelty. 🔥
