A spoiled princess rejects the gifts of a young prince—a real rose and a real nightingale—but is willing to give kisses to a simple swineherd just to possess the cheerful yet useless toys he has made by hand.
As in Andersen’s classic fairy tales, the swineherd turns out to be the very same young prince, determined to win the princess’s heart. Naturally, the power of the things that are truly precious in life—the fragrance of a flower, the song of a nightingale, the warmth of love—manages to transform the spoiled princess, and she falls genuinely in love with the young prince.
With a little sadness and many smiles, the fairy-tale storytellers present their youngest audience with the truest fairy tale of all.
As true as they themselves are.
