Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956) was a German playwright, poet, and theatre director, renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to modern theatre. His approach, known as epic theatre, urges audiences to reflect on the social dimensions of the plot.

The play “A Bourgeois Wedding”, on which the performance “Wedding” is based, is among his most famous works. Its plot attacks the habits, hypocrisy, self-assertion, and artificiality of bourgeois society.

A young couple invites their closest friends and relatives to their wedding. What happens on what should be the happiest day of their lives?

Gossip and backbiting in the corners, broad smiles at the table, veiled hints at morality, mockery of the hosts… Drunkenness, indecent songs and dances… And shattered dreams and illusions…
