This baffling title is actually the name of a truth serum. It is a drug that boosts your self-confidence so much that you no longer feel the need to lie. Once its effects wear off, you remember nothing. An ideal starting point for a romantic comedy, as the author himself defines the genre.

Can you handle so many surprises? A young woman, a student studying in Barcelona, finds herself in an extreme situation. She discovers that she is pregnant.

But there is a problem: she does not know whether to keep the baby, because she is not sure that the boy by whom she became pregnant truly loves her. Her roommate comes to the rescue and suggests burundanga.

However, using this drug is not safe. Knowing someone else’s secrets means learning things you should not know. After all, how would you react if it turned out that the man you are carrying a child by not only slept with another woman, but is also an associate of the ETA terrorist organization?

And what if, in addition, he brings a member of that group home, and it turns out that there is a kidnapped woman in your apartment?

Well, if you want to know other people’s secrets, you have to be prepared to deal with situations like that too. And that turns out to be a very difficult task, especially when you are expecting a child.

What does it feel like to know other people’s secrets?

Burundanga is a drug. But it is a drug not only for the person who takes it.

It is an even bigger drug for the person who offers it. To know someone else’s secret without them suspecting; to overhear a casual conversation and keep listening; to read someone’s diary without them knowing; to watch a “housewives” series — other people’s secrets are so tempting.

Secrets give you a sense of power and security, and the feeling that you can control the situation. It is truly captivating. But it is far from safe.

Especially when it concerns people you love. Because no matter what you find out, you have to be able to forgive.

That is why the author of the play says that what saves us is love. Obvious enough. And even more obvious is that love does not want you to know secrets, but simply to trust the other person.
