LEGISLATIVE THEATRE

For the first time in Shumen — and among the first times in Bulgaria — Legislative Theatre will come to life on stage: a form of theatre that does not merely tell stories, but invites the audience to actively take part in finding solutions to real social problems. 🎭 What is legislative theatre? Legislative theatre is an interactive theatre practice inspired by the Theatre of the Oppressed by the Brazilian Augusto Boal. It turns the stage into a space for dialogue, where spectators are not just observers, but active participants. The performance addresses real social issues and challenges faced by the local community, while the audience has the opportunity to suggest changes, perspectives, and ideas — like a living public forum. 🌍 What will the performance be about? The show will be created based on real local issues from the city of Shumen, reflecting the everyday life, needs, and challenges of the people in the city. 👥 Who is behind it? The performance is the result of a joint effort by teachers, trainers, and youth workers from Bulgaria, Portugal, Latvia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Spain, and Italy. During the event, you will also have the opportunity to meet in person the international team behind the creation of the performance.
