Divine Comedy

pēc ДКТ "Васил Друмев" - Шумен

Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is a performance that guides the audience through the spheres of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise — not merely as a spatial journey, but as a dramatic inner path of the human spirit.

The production embodies Dante’s philosophical legacy, in which humanity confronts its own destiny, moral choices, and the possibility of spiritual ascent. The degrees of sin and virtue, the idea of divine justice, and the soul’s striving toward perfection accompany us constantly, prompting us to ask questions about the meaning of existence.

Dante’s encounters with the damned souls and the blessed become stage images of human weakness, suffering, and hope, while the figure of Beatrice shines as a symbol of divine love and spiritual enlightenment.

Lilia Abadjieva’s performance unfolds the philosophical depth of the work — reflections on free will, human responsibility, and the place of knowledge and truth in the life of the spirit. Through Dante’s poetics and metaphysical visions, the production turns the life of the spirit into a spectacular experience.

Divine Comedy is a path toward overcoming chaos, inner enlightenment, and discovering the divine order in the world. It is not merely a dramatization of a literary masterpiece, but a spiritual journey in which theatre becomes a bridge between humankind and eternity.
