Botev’s Love
"Botev’s Love" based on works by Hristo Botev and Zahariy Stoyanov
“Botev’s Love” is a dramatic-poetic composition based on texts by Hristo Botev and Zahariy Stoyanov, revealing a lesser-known side of the great poet and revolutionary — his human and deeply personal story. At the center of the stage action is the relationship between Botev and his wife Veneta — a love born in the troubled time of emigration and marked by the ideal of freedom. The performance follows the lives of the hajduks in Bucharest, their dreams of liberation, and the dramatic choice between personal happiness and duty to the homeland. Here, poetry meets documentary prose to create an emotional portrait of Botev — a man for whom love and freedom are inseparable. One gives meaning to life, while the other demands the highest sacrifice. “Botev’s Love” is a journey into personal and national memory, reminding us that ideals are born of the heart, and true love endures beyond time and death.
