Experience the emotion, richness, and beauty of folk beliefs and traditional rituals, combined with the artistic expressiveness of the talented dancers and singers of the Shevitsa Folklore Ensemble and the fairy-tale quality of this tragic tale. It is a story about the pursuit of freedom and breaking away from society’s norms, at the cost of an ethereal and poetic folkloric illusion. An honest, moving, and deeply stirring story in which everyone will recognize a part of themselves.
The story becomes even more intimate when we explain that at the heart of the plot of Dragon’s Wedding lie the relationship between Peyo Yavorov and the author’s sister, Mina Todorova—the prototypes for the main characters, the Dragon and Tzena. No Bulgarian remains untouched by their tragic fate…
The performance is dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the poet’s death.
