Three friends. One unpredictable English football match. Three different bets. And a lot to lose.

Paun, Bule and Pixi have been friends since childhood, while football betting is their great passion and favorite escape from reality. This time, however, each of them has bet everything on a different outcome. With every passing minute, the tension rises, the score changes, and so do the relationships between them.

“Don't Bet on the English!” is a loud, bold and painfully funny Serbian comedy about friendship, addiction and eternal boys who wait for the winning goal in the final minute instead of changing the game themselves.

Because sometimes you think you’re betting on a single match. But in fact, you’ve bet everything.

“Don't Bet on the English!” by Vladimir Đurđević is a play written with love for football, friendship and youth—but also a play against servitude to money, egoism and radicalization. Against shifting morals, the breakdown of trust, the fear of growing up and the fear of taking responsibility.

Our production examines the false idols each of us creates and the difficult path toward exposing them for what they are.
