“Marriage Contract” is a witty comedy of situations, weaving together fine satire, everyday misunderstandings, and brilliant humor.

Ephraim Kishon, a classic of Israeli humor, masterfully explores bureaucracy, family values, and the clash between tradition and reality. At first glance, the story of searching for a lost marriage certificate seems entirely Israeli, but in fact it is universal and accessible to everyone.

The main characters are a not-so-young married couple, former kibbutz members, who have carelessly treated the formalities of their marriage. Now the fiancé of their daughter, a man of strict principles, insists on proof of the legality of their union. The bewildered parents embark on a tangled journey full of comic situations, memories, disappointments, and the discovery of their true feelings. Quarrels, nostalgia, unexpected twists, and touching reconciliation—all of this makes the play not only funny, but also deeply humane. Audiences can expect a light, dynamic, and intelligent comedy in which, behind the laughter, there is a reflection on life, love, and what matters more—documents or sincere feelings.
