“Bullets Over Broadway” (based on the screenplay by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath) is an exceptionally vibrant, witty, and multilayered play that takes us back to 1920s New York—a world of jazz, theatrical euphoria, and boundless ambition.
At the heart of the story is a young playwright who dreams of seeing his play on Broadway. But it soon becomes clear that the road to the stage requires not only talent and inspiration, but also some serious compromises.
His production is financed by a mob boss who imposes one—and only one—condition: his girlfriend must be cast in the show. She has no artistic talent whatsoever, but makes up for it with enormous self-confidence and influence.
