What remains of a person when the world remembers them only as a legend?

“Body in Ice” is a story inspired by the life of Vaslav Nijinsky—one of the most famous dancers in history. His talent propelled him to the top, but his life proved far more complicated than his performances on stage. Blinded and confused, he fell under the influence of Sergei Diaghilev—the man who was the first to see something extraordinary in him. Between fame, love, and the painful separation from dance, he also meets Romola—the woman who remains by his side as the world begins to drift away.

And yet, why does a person dance at all?

On stage, the past returns. The young Nijinsky meets his own future—the older man he has become. Memories come alive, love returns, and the flight of the past begins once again.

And all of this takes place against a backdrop of live music.

Aleksandar Diaghilev, the grandson of Sergei Diaghilev, will make a special appearance on stage, playing live before the audience. In this way, the story of one of the greatest artists of the past meets his legacy in the present.

“Body in Ice” is a story about the love that remains. About the fame that fades. About a dance that continues to live, even when the body can no longer perform it.

“Body in Ice” is a co-production of the Sava Ognyanov Drama Theatre in Ruse and the Sofia Musical Weeks Festival. The production is realized with the financial support of the National Culture Fund.
