La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi is one of the most intimate works in the world operatic repertoire. Based on La Dame aux camélias by Alexandre Dumas fils, the opera tells the story of Violetta Valéry—a woman who, beyond the glitter of Parisian high society, discovers love as a chance for a new life. Her encounter with the young Alfredo Germont turns her world upside down, but their happiness proves vulnerable to social prejudice, family duty, and the inexorable course of fate.
A special highlight is the participation of baritone Vladimir Stoyanov as Giorgio Germont—one of the signature Verdi roles in his repertoire. An artist with an international career on the world’s leading opera stages, Stoyanov creates the character with vocal mastery, stylistic refinement, and profound psychological insight.
Under the baton of Viliana Valcheva and in Nina Naydenova’s production, the performance places Verdi’s characters and their human drama at its center—the clash between love and social conventions, between personal choice and imposed sacrifice.
