The 1st Festival of Opera and Ballet Arts will conclude with one of Giuseppe Verdi’s most monumental works—his Requiem. The piece combines the dramatic power of opera with the depth of spiritual experience in music about fear, grief, hope, and the human longing for salvation.

Taking the podium is Nayden Todorov, one of Bulgaria’s leading conductors, with an active international career and extensive experience in the operatic and symphonic repertoire. The quartet of soloists is familiar to audiences from prestigious stages and festivals in Europe and around the world, including the Arena di Verona, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.

Alongside the orchestra of the State Opera – Stara Zagora, the “Gena Dimitrova” Municipal Choir from Pleven will perform. The choir is the successor to the chorus of the “Hristo Brambarov” Pleven Opera. It has extensive experience in the operatic and cantata-oratorio repertoire, as well as numerous performances in Bulgaria and on European stages.
