If you ever happen to inherit a Cat, be kind and gentle with him. Feed him, never leave him without water, and change his litter regularly. Read him fairy tales aloud.

In time, your Cat will grow up and appreciate your care as it deserves. He may turn you into the Marquis of Carabas and marry you to a princess.

He may turn you into simply a good person—not a marquis—and marry you to an ordinary, beautiful girl who will always remain your princess.

Perhaps you will marry happily without his help, but even then the Cat will never do you any harm.
