What lies behind “Dzak”?
The title of the performance comes from one of children’s favorite games—games every parent knows, which appear very early in a child’s life. They are games of appearing and disappearing, known as “peekaboo.”
The wordless performance “Dzak” tells the story of a flower and its friends—creatures that hide in its home. These include a curious ladybug, a little spider, and butterflies.
The performance is intended for children aged 6 months to 4 years and their parents. The maximum audience per performance is 20 children with 20 parents.
What is the performance itself like?
The action takes place in a stage space set up on the stage—a small magical flower-shaped dome, beneath which the parents and children, its stamens, are “hidden.” There, they experience the stories of the little creatures hidden in the flower, which come to life before them through shadow theatre.
The performance gives young spectators the opportunity to step onto the stage for the first time, sit there, and enjoy the story together with their parents. Beneath the dome, they can move around, lie down, and stand up—but above all, be captivated and have fun.
The performance develops young children’s sense and perception of space, darkness, light, colors, and music. It stimulates their imagination and powers of observation, as well as their ability to follow different objects. It combines visual and auditory elements into an interactive and captivating experience.
