Pick and Pull

The newest puppet performance by the RDT “Nikolay Haytov” for the whole family, “Pick and Pull,” is based on the folk tale of the same name. It was created by director and playwright Petar Todorov, set designer Hanna Schwartz, and the beloved Smolyan actress Desislava Mincheva-Todorova.

With a sparkling and richly expressive theatrical language, “Pick and Pull” tells us, with plenty of humor and self-irony, the story of the spoiled Todorka, who has been taught by her mother to lie by the hearth all day long and not lift a finger. But what will happen when Todora gets married and her mother is no longer there to serve her? Suitor after suitor comes and goes, until Petyo Rabotarski finally appears. Whether Todorka’s story has a happy ending is something only the performance can reveal…
