🎺 Opening of the 2026/2027 Concert Season

On October 1, the Shumen Symphony Orchestra will open its new concert season under the baton of Slavil Dimitrov. The evening’s soloist will be Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Makedonski – trumpet, one of the distinguished Bulgarian musicians of his generation.

Petar Makedonski is principal trumpet of the Sofia Philharmonic and a professor at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” where he has held the rank of associate professor since 2025. His concert activities include performances with the Sofia Philharmonic, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the “Sofia Soloists,” the Kosovo Philharmonic, and others, as well as appearances at the “Sofia Music Weeks,” “Varna Summer,” “March Music Days,” and “Apollonia” festivals.

Sergei Prokofiev – Scenes and Dances from the ballet Romeo and Juliet 135th anniversary of the composer’s birth

Alexander Arutiunian – Trumpet Concerto One of the landmark works in the trumpet repertoire. The first official recording was made in 1951 by trumpeter Aykaz Meslayan with the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, conducted by Odysseas Dimitriadis. In 2026, we mark the 75th anniversary of this recording.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Suite No. 4, Op. 61, “Mozartiana” in the year marking the 270th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth
