Musical Dialogues

On October 29, the Shumen Symphony Orchestra will bring pianist Georgi Cherkin and young flutist Ali Er kekli together on stage—two musicians from different generations, united by virtuosity and a love of classical music.

Georgi Cherkin has performed at prestigious venues across Europe, Asia, and the United States, including Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Tonhalle Zürich, and the Berlin Philharmonie. A pianist, composer, and orchestrator, he has more than 30 piano concertos in his repertoire.

Ali Er kekli has already won first prizes at a number of international competitions. In 2025, he received the Grand Prize at “The Sound of Time” competition, and in Varna he was awarded a distinction for the best performance of a work by a Bulgarian composer. He has performed as a soloist with the Haskovo Symphony Orchestra, as well as on international stages and at festivals.

Under the baton of Slavil Dimitrov, the two soloists will perform works by Georgi Zl. Cherkin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and others.
