The Poles of Classical Music

🎼 “THE POLES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC”

Conductor: Filip Stavrov

On October 23, the Shumen Symphony Orchestra invites you to “The Poles of Classical Music” – a concert featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Sergei Prokofiev.

Taking the podium is Filip Stavrov – a young conductor whose professional development has already brought him into contact with various symphony orchestras and choirs.

Stavrov is a student at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” where he studies opera and symphonic conducting with Prof. Deyan Pavlov, PhD, and choral conducting with Assoc. Prof. Georgi Elenkov, PhD. His musical journey began with the piano, which remains an important part of his professional development.

It was on the stage of the Shumen Symphony Orchestra in March 2025 that Filip Stavrov made his debut as a guest conductor of the orchestra. Since then, his conducting experience has expanded through concerts with the New Symphony Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” and work with choral ensembles.

Programme:

🎵 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Overture to the opera Don Giovanni

🎵 Sergei Prokofiev – Symphony No. 1 “Classical”

🎵 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550

The programme features three iconic works – the overture to Don Giovanni and Symphony No. 40 by Mozart, as well as Sergei Prokofiev’s “Classical” Symphony. Music that needs no lengthy introduction – familiar, beloved, and always captivating on the concert stage.
