About the Performance
The musical The Prince of Egypt tells the Old Testament story of Moses and Ramses—two brothers who grow up together but are destined to follow different paths. From Moses’ rescue as a baby in the waters of the Nile to his fateful mission to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, the performance traces their dramatic struggle between brotherly love and duty, power and freedom.
This is a story of courage, perseverance, and divine guidance, reminding us that with faith and determination, one can overcome even the greatest trials and follow one’s destiny.
The music and lyrics are by world-renowned composer Stephen Schwartz, a three-time Academy Award winner, while the book is by Hollywood screenwriter Philip LaZebnik. The memorable melodies and compelling lyrics shape the emotional world of the characters and drive the dramatic action, transforming the music into a fully-fledged narrator of the story.
The production’s concept recreates the story through a stylized realist stage language that intertwines acting, vocal artistry, and dance. Selected through a rigorous casting process, the actors, singers, and dancers will create a sincere and powerful musical theatre experience. The set design, costumes, and 3D mapping will enrich the performance with creative visual solutions.
