Hitar Petar and Nasreddin Hodja, Saviors of Modern Bulgaria

The production brings together classic Bulgarian characters in a struggle against the pressing issues of the present day. Through the figures of Hitar Petar, Nasreddin Hodja, Bai Ganyo, and others, the play offers an ironic and satirical perspective on the social and political challenges facing Bulgaria.

The theme of the country’s “salvation” raises an important question—what does it actually mean to save Bulgaria, and is this possible under the conditions of the present reality? The humor in the production exposes the absurdities of contemporary society and encourages audiences to reflect on their place within it.

With its unique combination of traditional characters and contemporary themes, the production offers not only entertainment, but also an opportunity to reflect on identity, social values, and Bulgaria’s future.
