“Tonight, we will attempt to play our most difficult role—that of conspirators. Conspirators united in the name of the sacred cause of the Apostle of Freedom. No one has succeeded to this day, and it is unlikely that we will succeed either. Because each of us, each one of you, every Bulgarian carries this man within them, and whatever we show you, you will cry out: ‘No, that’s not him!’ But who was he, in fact? There is no more famous and, at the same time, more obscure figure in our history. No, this is not a verbal paradox. Because truly—what do we know about Levski?”

This is how Stefan Tsanev’s play begins, built on the principle of “theatre within the theatre.”

“In ‘The Night of Revelations,’ only one person is true to the truth and to his people... The moment when the Deacon will confess himself, while the audience will try to find answers to questions about betrayal, ideals, and the price of freedom.

Historical titles have always been part of our repertoire and will continue to be, because they enjoy strong audience interest—and history shows us who we are. By knowing our history, we will also learn about the mistakes made in the past, and, God willing, learn from them...” shares Galab Bochukov, the director and director of the production.
